The Farm Class, a week long intensive exploration of the creative process of finding one’s own voice in the visual arts, takes place on the rolling hills of a farm in Middlebrook, Virginia, in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley. It is a resident program presented by the Art Department of Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, N.C.
May 18th – 27th
June 15th – 24th
Students explore the process of creating art through drawing, painting, photography, and writing.
Visiting visual artists and poets will be in attendance to facilitate the creative process. All accommodations and meals are provided in a rustic atmosphere. Each session starts on Saturday evening and ends a week later on Sunday afternoon.
The week will include presentations by visiting artists, writing, workshops, yoga, and time around the fire pit at night. The week will also include excursions to local points of interest for on-site inspiration and activity. We will plan a mountain hike, a visit to the river, and an evening in Staunton at the Blackfriar's Theater.
An exhibition of work from the Farm Class will be scheduled at CPCC for the Fall or Winter following the class.
